Jang Geun Suk Donates All Proceeds from His Busan Guerilla Concert

Actor Jang Geun Suk has received a lot of attention for donating all proceeds from his Busan Guerilla Concert.
Jang Geun Suk posted on his Twitter on October 10, "The second guerilla concert. Total proceeds equal 236,500 won (roughly $236.50). For what should I use this money? Shall I donate it? First, to the social welfare..."
When the Busan International Film Festival (BIFF) opened on October 6, Jang Geun Suk held a sudden guerilla concert and $236,50 is what was collected during the concert.

On the following day of October 11, Jang Geun Suk posted on his Twitter along with a picture, "Donating proceeds from Haeundae Guerilla Concert complete. And I'm eating ramen. I want to do it again." The picture was a receipt from Jang Geun Suk's donation to the Seongdong district office.

Jang Geun Suk only had his acoustic guitar at Haeundae as he opened a surprise guerilla concert for the many movie fans in the area. He also participated in an event called, "Open Talk" at the BIFF on October 9. During this event, he said, "Has anyone come to my concert yesterday? I played my guitar at Haeundae and made 158,000 won ($158.00). This is what you call a true interaction with the fans."

Netizens on Jang Geun Suk's Twitter commented, "You're a great person!" "No wonder you make so much money," "You don't waste a single penny. You're awesome," "I only have good things to say about you," "You are a true free soul - respect!"

Meanwhile, Jang Geun Suk is awaiting the release of his new movie with Kim Ha Neul, "You're My Pet," and is currently filming for "Love Rain" with SNSD's YoonA.

Love Rain’ holds its first script-reading with SNSD’s YoonA and Jang Geun Suk

PD Yoon Suk Ho, who’s famous for his melodramas like ‘Autumn Tale‘ and ‘Winter Sonata‘, is reuniting with writer Oh Soo Yun for the new drama, ‘Love Rain‘. The drama boasts a formidable cast comprised of Jang Geun Suk, SNSD‘s YoonA, Son Eun Seo, Hwang Bora, and Seo In Guk.

‘Love Rain’ recently held its first script-reading session with the cast, PD, and writer. PD Yoon Suk Ho led the meeting with careful and detailed suggestions on the acting. Jang Geuk Suk and Yoon prepared for their parts thoroughly, and the atmosphere in the meeting seemed no different from the actual filming environment.

The story portrays both the pure emotional love story from the ’70s, as well as the more modern type of love. PD Yoon Suk Ho reflected, “Many of the actors and actresses in this drama may not have experienced the style of romance felt in the ’70s.” He mused, “Looking back on my memories, it was an enjoyable time; that nostalgia is reflected in this production.”

Jang Geun Suk will play a double role as a father and son, ‘Seo In Ha‘ and ‘Seo Jun‘. Commenting on his roles, he stated, “When I first saw the script, I cried a lot. I feel an ambition to express the two characters’ emotions, in addition to the emotions I feel and the sincere message I want to say through ‘Love Rain’.”

Jokingly, he continued, “I usually covers roles that portray energetic personalities, but trying to do something more calm and steady ,it feels uneasy.“.

YoonA will play two roles as well; she’s accepted the part of ‘Kim Yoon Hee‘, a shy beauty from the ’70s arc of the show, as well as ‘Yuri‘, a cheerful girl from the present time. YoonA explained “The burden is big, as I have to act as two characters who have contradictory personalities. But by being together with the PD, writer, and the other actors and actresses, I have a strong heart. One by one, I’ll do everything possible.”

After the script-reading ended, the actors and actresses ate dinner together and became even closer. Filming is scheduled to begin in September and the drama will air in early 2012.

Overseas FAN's donate 2.12 tonnes of rice in JANG KEUN SUK's name

Actor Jang Geun Suk has received 2.12 tonnes of rice from fans as a gesture of support for his Asian tour.

On August 7th, Jang Geun Suk performed for “The Cri Show Last in Seoul” at the Seoul Olympic Hall. Bags of rice donated by fans in South Korea, China, Japan, Taiwan, and Hong Kong were piled up at the entrance of the Olympic Hall. These bags of rice will be given to underprivileged children and to those who are suffering from starvation.

Jang Geun Suk was also able to collect an additional 3 tonnes of rice from fan meetings and press conference for the drama he is currently shooting for. He has donated these rice bags to the Salvation Army and Food for the Hungry.

The singer has been on “The Cri Show” tour for the past four months, starting in Hong Kong before heading over to Thailand, Malaysia, Taiwan, and other parts of Asia. It finally wrapped the tour up with a grand finale in Seoul.

Actor Jang Keun Suk was cast in the role of a male lead character in great director Yoon Suk Ho’s new drama.

On the 8th, an official said Jang Keun Suk will play a role of a male lead character in the drama, Singing in the rain.

The drama will be a director Yoon Suk Ho’s typical melodrama such as Autumn Fable and Winter Sonata. It will air next year.

The drama which will be made by director Yoon, who has many Japanese fans from his dramas Autumn Fable and Winter Sonata, and Jang Keun Suk, a new Korean Wave star, will be also a popular drama in Asia countries.

Director Yoon said, “I can’t talk about the cast for the drama yet. I’m concentrating on writing the script now.”

Yoon’s new drama was supposed to air later this year through KBS, but got canceled due to late preparation.

Meanwhile, director Yoon was born in 1957 and entered KBS in 1985 as a producer. He produced many popular dramas, including, Tomorrow is love, Feelings, Color, Propose, and more.

 Autumn Fable and Winter Sonata were very popular in Asian countries. He also became popular after the dramas. Winter Sonata also helped Bae Yong Jun become a top Korean Wave star.
