It was reported on December 13 that Seo Taiji owns the highest valued real estate property among all Korean celebrities. According to Chaebul.com, Seo Taiji’s building located in the Nonhyun-Dong business district is valued at 29.5 billion won ($25.6 million USD), topping all Korean celebrities’ real estate properties exceeding 5 billion won in value.
The building, purchased by Seo Taiji in 2002, is a six-story building with three underground floors. Located in the major business district of Seoul’s downtown area, this building is in close proximity to all the major public transportation stops. Seo Taiji is reported to use the 6th and 7th floors of the building when he’s in Korea, but has rarely been seen using it. The Seo Taiji Company has used the first three floors of the building since 2005.
The second highest ranked building owners are the Jang Dong Gun and Go So Young couple. The three buildings they own are about 28.2 billion won ($24.4 million USD) in total value. Another star couple, Cha In Pyo and Shin Ae Ra, own a building worth 22.3 billion won ($19.3 million USD), which is the third highest among all Korean stars. Other notables in the top 10 include Jang Geun Suk who owns a building in Chung Dam Dong worth 14 billion won ($12.1 million USD), and the Kim Nam Joo-Kim Seung Woo couple who hold ownership of a 10.9 billion won ($9.4 million USD) building in the Samsung Dong area of Seoul.
Seo Taiji, the former member of Seo Taiji & Boys, is regarded as one of the most influential and prominent cultural icons in Korea. Since his debut with the Seo Taiji & Boys in the early 1990s, he's introduced new types of music to the relatively under developed Korean music scene in the 90s. After the retirement of the Seo Taiji & Boys in 1996, he took some time off, but returned with more rock-centric music which better suited his musical taste.
