Japanese Shopping Mall Bans Twitter to Protect Jang Keun Suk′s Privacy?
On the February 22 edition of Japan’s Asahi Shinbun an article titled,“Twitter Banned in Major Mall Due to Popularity", was published regarding the use of social network services by the employees of a major shopping mall in Tokyo.

Recently, Twitter and other similar social networking services have been used to leak the privacy of famous celebrities. Regular citizens are publishing photos they have taken themselves to expose the everyday lives of these famous figures. While it does provide the public with a feeling of closeness outside of television and the internet, it fails to protect the privacy of these individuals.

Outside of Korea, the same issue is occurring in Japan. According to the Asahi Shinbun a shopping mall in Tokyo has banned the use of Twitter and blogs to protect the privacy of these famous figures.

Though the ban on these social networking services already exited, it was reported that the ban became more strictly enforced following the publication of a photo of Jang Keun Suk shopping at this mall was posted online.

According to an employee of the mall, “Just as Asahi Shinbun reported, Jang Keun Suk is a frequent customer here. As an important customer we want to avoid unnecessary trouble as much as possible.”

Jang will be returning to the small screen in March 26 through KBS2’s Love Rain.
