Hallyu star Jang Keun Suk, singer Lena Park, and child stars Wang Seok Hyeon and Jin Ji Hee have been appointed as Honorary Ambassadors for the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit.
Reflecting on the recent accidents at the Fukushima nuclear plants, Jang, who has been gaining international attention and accolade for his performance in the Korean drama, ‘Minamisineyo (You’re Beautiful),’ expressed his will to raise global awareness of the importance of nuclear security and peace. Park, who proved her talent through the singing competition show, ‘I am a Singer,’ on MBC (Munhwa Broadcasting Corporation), has been selected to sing the Summit’s official theme song, ‘Peace Song,’ which conveys the Summit’s mission “to create a peaceful world without nuclear terrorism.”
Meanwhile, the 2012 Seoul Nuclear Security Summit is scheduled to take place on March 26th and 27th. The largest summit yet in Korean history, the Nuclear Security Summit will be participated by leaders of 50 countries, including Presidents Barack Obama of the United States, Hu Jintao of China, and Nicolas Sarkozy of France, UK Prime Minister David Cameron, as well as of major international organizations such as the United Nations (UN), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), European Union (EU), and International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL).
